The Business Requirements Document
and Successful Implementations

In All Methodologies

Syed Ali - Business Analyst, Large Program Requirements

Tim Hannan - Business Analyst, ScrumMaster IT Projects, Banking/IT Cybersecurity Requirements
Matt Dominici - Scrum Trainer and Coach, FinTech, Start-ups and Banking
Judith Oja-Gillam - Strategic  Business Architect / Business Designer

Syed Ali will use the Business Requirements Document (BRD), and his current experiences, to provide an understanding and a context as to why the BRD is valuable and how these principles are important and valuable in 2018 to all methodologies, including those based on the Agile Manifesto.

Delivering these values belongs in good part to the business analyst who will take the need, analyze it, and contribute to it becoming a product, project, or initiative. The better the job the business analyst does – whether in a dedicated role, or a hybrid role – will better allow the team to deliver as a business solution which aligns to the business need while delivering the expected business outcome.

Business Analysis must deliver certain values, otherwise it just does not matter! Core are good requirements, good analysis, solution evaluation, and planning and management. Methodologies, corporate cultures, and organizational health all contribute to and determine what the practice of business analysis will do in-house and how that practice will be valued throughout the organization.

This month we are stepping back from Waterfall, Iterative, and Agile based teams and climbing to a higher view where we will discuss the Business Requirements Document (BRD) and its principals that the enterprise needs and expects the business analysis practice to deliver competently and successfully.
